Using the Keyboard

If you use the arrow keys along with some modifier keys, you can resize or “nudge” items on a page with varying degrees of precision. Below is a list of the actions and the related keys. “Unit” refers to the unit of measuring you are using for your document:

  • Move item 1 unit: Arrow keys
  • Move item 10 units: Ctrl+Arrow keys
  • Move item 0.1 units: Shift+Arrow keys
  • Move item 0.01 units: Control+Shift+Arrow keys
  • Resize item 1 unit outwards: Alt+Arrow keys
  • Resize item 10 units outwards: Control+Alt+Arrow keys
  • Resize item 1 unit inwards: Shift+Alt+Arrow keys
  • Resize item 10 units inwards: Control+Shift+Alt+Arrow keys
