Image Effects
From Scribus Documentation Project
If you have imported an image into an image irame, you can apply some effects to the image. These effects are not a replacement for a specialized image manipulation program like The GIMP, but it allows for some quick enhancements. Most of the image effects have equivalents in analog photography. Note that the effects can't be applied to rasterized EPS and PDF files.
To apply one or more effects, right-click the image frame and select “Image Effects”. You have the choice between 8 different effects:
Select an effect in “Available Effects”. With the arrow buttons (<< and >>) you can add or remove an effect (“Effects in Use”). It's possible to apply more than one effect to an image. With the up and down buttons in “Effects in Use”, the order of the effects can be adjusted. The latter will affect the result.
Some of the effects can be modified under “Options”, some cannot.
Please note that all image effects are non-destructive, which means that no changes are made to the original image!
The image effects in detail:
- Blur: The blur effect reduces the sharpness of the image.
- Brightness: Increases or decreases the brightness of an image.
- Colorize: The dark/bright tones of the image are replaced by another color.
- Contrast: The contrast is the difference between bright and dark parts of an image.
- Grayscale: Converts the colors of an image to gray tones.
- Invert: Inverts all colors in an image.
- Posterize: Reduces the number of colors in an image.
- Sharpen: Sharpens details and contours in an image
