Bitmap Export
From Scribus Documentation Project
You can export your Scribus pages as bitmap images. Be aware, though, that the export quality depends on the preview settings for images. To create a high-resolution bitmap file, you have to set the preview settings for all Images to “Full Resolution”. Also note that color management is not applied to image export. This feature is best suited to produce some low-resolution images for web pages, eg. as a preview.
To export one or more bitmaps, use File > Export > Save as Image or Ctrl+Shift+E on the keyboard.
The names for your images are automatically generated, ie, the filename of the Scribus document is used and appended uniquely for each page. From the export dialog, you merely select the export directory for your files:
Under “Options” the following parameters can be set:
- Image Type: Scribus can export to BMP, JPEG, PBM, PGM, PNG, PPM, XBM, and XPM formats.
- Quality: The quality of the image can range from 1 up to 100%. The higher the quality, the bigger the file.
- Resolution: The resolution of your image can range from 72 to 2400 dpi. The higher the resolution, the bigger the file. Note that won't upscale any image in your document, ie. if an image has a resolution of 72 dpi, you can't improve the quality by exporting at a higher resolution.
- Size: Using more than 100% is not recommended, since even as much as 100% will result in a very large file.
Under “Range” you can determine which parts of your document will be exported, the current page, all pages or a range of pages. If more than one page is selected for export, Scribus will add a number to the resulting files, for instance: from flyer.sla, we produce flyer-1.png, flyer-2.png, etc.
